THEO WALCOTT and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain both needed to leave Arsenal and they are reaping the rewards from doing so, says Jamie Redknapp.

Oxlade-Chamberlain left Arsenal for Liverpool on the last day of the summer transfer window in 2017.
Walcott followed him to Merseyside this January but instead joined the blue side with Everton.
The pair had both failed to nail down a regular starting spot at Arsenal and Redknapp says that is why they have to leave.
He claims Oxlade-Chamberlain in particular has been impressive since quitting the Emirates in August.
He’s flying, you can see the training at Liverpool that they must do. He’s got really fit, strong, fingers crossed he stays fit now
“I think they were both treading water at Arsenal, it’s as simple as that,” Redknapp said on Sky Sports.
“Alex I would say has probably done slightly better out of the two.
“I think back to a few years ago when he got in the England team, looked like he was going to go to the World Cup, got injured. He looked like he was going to be a mainstay for many years.
“And then players sort of came to Arsenal and he sort of lost his way.
“Now, he’s flying, you can see the training at Liverpool that they must do. He’s got really fit, strong, fingers crossed he stays fit now.

“I think it’s the same for Theo really, he needed to get away.
“It was too easy for him, it didn’t look like he was under any duress and if they didn’t play it didn’t really matter.
“Whereas at these clubs here, if you don’t turn it on and you’re not at it, they’ll have a go at you it’s the same at Liverpool.
“At Arsenal everything was far too easy for them.”
