Bucks' Antetokounmpo (ankle) out vs. Knicks
The Milwaukee Bucks will not play Giannis Antetokounmpo versus the New York Knicks on Saturday, letting their star forward rest his sore right ankle.
The team announced the decision at their morning shootaround and also said Shabazz Muhammad and Matthew Dellavedova would also be unavailable due to right ankle sprains. The team also said Sterling Brown is away for personal reasons.
Antetokounmpo, who is missing his sixth game of the season, is averaging 27.1 points and 10 rebounds per game this season. The do-everything forward also averages 4.8 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.4 blocks.
In keeping Antentokounmpo out, coach Joe Prunty says he's focusing on the club's long-term prospects.
"We've got to get him 100 percent," Prunty said, via the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. "That's the biggest thing we've talked about - we need to be healthy. We've got to get Malcolm (Brogdon) back, we've got to get Delly back, going in (to the playoffs) at 100 percent in terms of bodies."
Brogdon could actually return against the Knicks, as he listed as probable. He hasn't played since injuring his left quadriceps on Feb. 1.
"I think it will be more of a game-time decision, but it's exciting to be back out here with my guys and get ready to make this playoff run," Brogdon said.
Prunty suggested the "probable" listing might be generous.
"I'll get final confirmation from the medical staff here in a little bit, but it looks like (Brogdon) might be doubtful for tonight," Prunty said.
The Bucks (42-37) have already clinched a playoff spot, but sit seventh in the East with just a half-game lead over the Washington Wizards with three games to play.
