DeKALB – Members of the Kishwaukee College Eco-Club will be cleaning up the community ponds near Lowe’s and Walmart in DeKalb starting at 10 a.m. Sunday.
A similar event took place last fall, and members of the club cleaned up the ponds near the BioLife Plasma Center in DeKalb as well. The purpose of this project is to improve the ponds’ overall water quality and the surrounding environment. This will remove plastics and other pollutants that have accumulated over the winter months and are harming the surrounding ecosystem.
Members of the club will meet in the Lowe’s parking lot before beginning their work. This event will last until early to mid-afternoon, or until the group becomes too tired. Any members of the surrounding communities are welcome to take part in this event. The Kish Eco-Club would appreciate any and all help from others.
Any questions can be emailed to the club's president, Jack Murphy, at jack_murphy88@aol.com or the club’s adviser, Adam Hughes, at ahughes1@kish.edu.
