Police block a street near a place where a vehicle drove into a group of people killing several and injured many in Muenster Germany, April 7 2018.

At least three people were killed and 30 more injured when a man driving a van plowed into a crowd in northwestern German city of Müenster in a suspected terror attack on Saturday.

The unidentified driver shot himself after ramming his vehicle into people near the Kiepenkerl statue in the historic downtown district.

Authorities may be searching for two other perpetrators, police sources told local paper RP Online.

At least six of those injured were in critical condition and Daily paper Bild reported that three people were dead.

Photos of nearby Grosser Kiepenkerl restaurant show the eatery’s outdoor tables and chairs overturned and strewn at the scene.

Security sources told Reuters that a terrorist attack had not been ruled out.

Authorities urged the public to avoid the area near the city center.

In December 2016, Anis Amri, a failed Tunisian asylum seeker plowed his truck into a crowded Berlin marketplace, killing 11 people.
