Minister distributes Kalyana Lakshmi cheques and subsidised tractors

Irrigation Minister T. Harish Rao on Saturday stated public welfare is the government’s top agenda and promised that all steps would be put in place to meet people’s expectations.

Along with MLC Fareeduddin and others, the Minister participated in various development activities at Kohir and Zaheerabad, distributed Kalyana Lakshmi cheques and subsidised tractors. He also held a prolonged review meeting in the evening.

Addressing a gathering at Asian Function Hall, Mr. Harish Rao said that as many as 2,635 girls had benefitted under the Kalyana Lakshmi scheme in Zaheerabad constituency so far, adding that from April 1, beneficiaries were receiving ₹1,00,116.

The drinking water scheme, established at an estimated cost of ₹25 crore, was commenced in the town, he said. Additionally, to meet the drinking water requirements of the constituency, ₹300 crore was being spent, the Minister revealed. He said that water is already being supplied to 101 villages under the constituency, while the remaining 81 villages would also be covered shortly. Mr. Harish Rao also promised to provide drinking water to the town in the next four months.

Responding to a request made by Mr. Fareeduddin, the Minister promised that an Urdu medium residential junior college would be established in the town along with a computer training centre.

Informing that there was no shortage of seeds and fertilizers, the Minister said input subsidy to the tune of ₹4,000 per acre would be extended to the farmers from April 20.

“Our government stood by its word and upgraded tandas to panchayats,” he said.
