PATNA: Health minister Mangal Pandey on Saturday announced that the state government would provide Rs 1 lakh each to trauma patients for treatment.
“The financial help will be provided to patients if they inform the health department within 10 days after suffering the trauma,” Pandey said while addressing an event organised at Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) to mark World Health Day on Saturday. The event was organised by PMCH in association with the country office of World Health Organisation (WHO).
The minister said the government was also in the process of starting free of cost dialysis for kidney patients in government hospitals in public-private partnership (PPP) mode.
“The health department is planning to increase immunization coverage from 84% to 90% by the end of this year. Efforts are also on to bring down total fertility rate (TFR) in the state. Less population burden means less patient and fewer diseases,” Pandey said, adding the aim is to reduce the TFR from 3.3% to 1.2% in the next 10 years.
Students from various medical colleges and technical institutes participated in a debate and poster-making competition on universal health coverage, the theme of the World Health Day.
Meanwhile, the department of community and family medicine, All India Institute of Medical Sciences-Patna, organised a continuing medical education programme to mark the say. A quiz competition was also organized.
