A Brazilian Supreme Court judge has ordered, the former President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva to surrender to federal police.

The order was issued as Brazil’s Supreme Court had ruled Lula da Silva for a 12-year jail sentence which is supposed to begin from Friday (April 6). The jail sentence was issued for obtaining $1.1 million worth of bribes during the period that he was in power.

Giving the court order, the judge said, the former President must present himself on Friday (April 6) at the federal police headquarters in the southern city of Curitiba.

The Judge further remarked, a special cell is prepared for the ex-president to avoid moral and physical engagement with other prisoners.

However, refusing the charges against him, the former President says, the charges are politically motivated and faked to prevent him from running for the election in October.
