GUNTUR: The Piduguralla police on Thursday filed a complaint against two on charge of human trafficking. Police said that the accused, identified as T Rebbamma alias Ashabee and Nandu were cheating illiterate people on the guise of job visas to Dubai and other Gulf countries.

According to the complaint lodged by Fathima, Rebbamma and Nandu were trafficking women to Gulf countries for sex trade. Recounting her experience, Fathima said Rebbamma lured women, promising jobs as domestic help, attendants, saleswomen etc. Fathima said that a network of agents would lure women into the racket promising them lucrative jobs in Dubai.

She said, “Rebbamma and Nandu are both agents. They used to approach vulnerable women with promises of jobs in the Gulf. I was told I could work as a domestic help in Dubai for a monthly salary of  `25,000. Similar promises were made to other women.”

The victim said, “We were were given little food and no money. I somehow managed to reach Piduguralla after my seven months of stay in Dubai.”Fathima sought stern action against Rebbamma and Nandu for trafficking women for sex trade. Piduguralla SI Md Rafi said a case for trafficking of women for sex trade was registered.

When Fathima was promised a job in Dubai, she was hoping for a life away from the pain and drudgery of her childhood. All she got was poverty and betrayal, which led her into the clutches of Rebbamma. Struggling to take care of her family, Fathima grabbed the opportunity when Rebbamma offered her a maid’s job with a family in Dubai. Everything seemed alright at first in the strange city. A few days later, Fathima was forced to have sex with men. When Fathima resisted, she was locked up and starved.
