Man found not guilty in ‘cellphone murder’ case is charged in London drugs and weapons bust

A man who was found not guilty of second-degree murder of a young Brampton man last fall is facing new charges.

London police confirm Mohamed Sail, 27, faces four drug counts in connection to a series of busts made Thursday, where police allegedly seized a variety of drugs and a sawed-off shotgun.

Sail was charged in connection with the death of Jeremy Cook, 18, who was shot trying to get his stolen cellphone back in June 2015.

Sail was found not guilty last September.

The current charges follow searches at homes and a car across London on Thursday.

“As a result of the investigation, seven individuals were charged with a total of 27 firearm and drug-related offences,” said Const. Sandasha Bough.

In total, police seized:

• loaded sawed-off shotgun
• 96 rounds of 9mm ammunition
• 15 rounds of shotgun ammunition
• 40 grams of suspected cocaine valued at $4,000
• 7 grams of marijuana valued at $140
• 5 Oxycodone pills valued at $50
• $3,430 in Canadian cash
• $220 in U.S. cash

Those charged range in age from 20 to 47.
