Tourism Minister Manohar Ajgaonkar on Friday said that strict action would be taken against those found involved in illegal massage activities in and around the coastal areas of the state. He also warned of strict action against tourist wardens if found involved in such illegal activities.
Speaking at the inauguration of the Spirit of Goa Festival, at Campal, the Tourism Minister expressed disappointment over photos of such non-ethical activities being circulated on the social media along with a video posted regarding a massage being carried out on a beach.
“Such activities are against the law and create a bad impression for a tourism state like Goa,” Ajgaonkar maintained, pointing out, “We believe in promoting Goa as a safe and a scenic holiday tourism destination. These kinds of incidents will bring a bad name to the state,” he observed, adding that strict action would be taken against all those responsible and further, requisite measures will be taken to avoid similar activities in the future.
Ajgaonkar further congratulated the India Reserve Battalion teams for taking swift action and arresting those responsible for conducting these illegal activities.
Finally, the Tourism Minister instructed the department of tourism to take stringent action against all those responsible in allowing such activities.
