Sri Lankan government today ordered the release of 27 Indian fishermen in its custody. These fishermen are likely to be repatriated next week.
19 fishermen were released from prison today and handed over to Indian consulate in Jaffna while rest eight will be released on Monday.
They were arrested on charges of poaching into Indian waters during January this year. With these release, there are no more Indian fishermen left in Sri Lankan custody.
