
Deepak Lather, in his debut Commonwealth Games, displayed that he holds the future for India in weightlifting, as he went on to clinch the bronze medal in Men’s 69 kg weightlifting event. The 18-year-old from Haryana went on to lift a total weight of 295 kg – 136 kg in Snatch and 159 kg in Clean-and-Jerk, to reach the podium. He attempted to go for a 138 kg lift in Snatch and a 162 kg Clean-and-Jerk, but he failed in the attempt to do so. If he had achieved both the lifts, he would have been able to contest for the gold medal. With the bronze medal win, India takes its total medal tally in this year’s CWG to 4, all of them coming in weightlifting.

Gareth Evans comes down for his final lift- he has been the star player on the show. Goes for a 165 kg lift in clean and jerk. But he fails to lift it - he still remains on top with a total lift of 299 kg.
Sri Lanka's Indica Dissanayake fails to lift 163 kg on twice occasions, he will remain at the second position for a silver at best. It means Gareth Evans is in the best position to grab the gold now.

Samoa's Vaipava Ioane has listed his first attempt at 170 kg. He lifted 125 kg in Snatch and it looks like a desperate attempt from the coaches to push for a medal with a tremendous clean-and-jerk.
Lesoto's Bafokeng Moeti gets his personal best as he gets a good lift of 110 kg in Clean and Jerk to get a total lift of 205 kg. It has been a tough start from his with troubles regarding knee support and time shortage. And he is still wrapping up his knee support for his final attempt - the time is running out... this is terrible show from the coaches. Goes for 115 kg lift - Lifts it clean, and the jerk is good, and he gets his! Takes his total to 210 kg,
Deepak Lather has opted for 153 kg as his initial attempt in clean-and-jerk. Sri Lanka's Dissanayake opts for 155 kg, while Wales Gareth Evans and Malaysia's Muhammad Hidayat have opted for 160 for now. Things will be difficult for Lather in clean-and-jerk.

Huge pressure on him now! He gets a green light on his second attempt, but he does not look happy. Something is bothering him, clearly.

Australia's own Brandon Wakeling has decided to increase his first weightlift from 117 kg to 119 kg - He will look to take any advantage they can take, and this seems to be a conscious decision. But is it a good one? And now he has gone up to 120 kg! He completes his lift as the crowd breaks into a huge roar - but it is not as clean as he had hoped it would be.

Two athletes behind him will be Gareth Evans from Wales and Malaysia's Muhamma Erry Hidayat who both have opted opted 130 kg as their first lift in Snatch.
Drama continues at Gold Coast as Mauritius' weightlifter Dinesh Jeuin starts off with a 106 kg Snatch lift but he almost was timed out. He reached just two seconds before and finished the lift. DRAMA, DRAMA, everywhere!
