All India Police aquatic championship: BSF tops table

Host Border Security Force (BSF) topped the medals table with 22 medals including six gold in the 66th All India Police aquatic championship which concluded at the BSF Chhawla Camp here on Friday.

Punjab Police managed to clinch eight of the 20 gold medals, and ended up with 15 in all. Haryana, Andhra Pradesh, Central Reserve Police Force, Kerala and Maharashtra followed in that order as they shared the 60 medals in all from 20 events.

In diving, BSF collected five medals including two gold, and was followed by CRPF and Central Industrial Security Force.

In water polo, it was CRPF which won the gold ahead of BSF, while Punjab took the bronze.

BSF clinched the overall team championship, while Punjab won the State championship.

In the 10-kilometre cross country, Rajesh Kumar of Uttarakhand won the gold ahead of Gova Ram and Sunil of BSF.

In the cross country team championship, BSF prevailed over CRPF and Uttarakhand.

K.K. Sharma, BSF director-general, presented the medals and trophies. The Additional Director of Intelligence Bureau, Alok Prabhakar, declared the meet closed.
