A children’s movie ‘Nani Maa’ was screened at Madhya Pradesh State Tribal Museum here on Thursday. The movie was screened under the regular series of children’s film screening ‘Ullas’.
Directed by Parvati Menon, the movie features Leela Misra, Abid, Agha, Kishore Bhatt in the lead roles. The movie follows the story of two kids and a secret treasure map.
A king looking for the map of a hidden treasure finds it in the back of a framed picture in grandmothers’ home. Realizing that some unscrupulous people are also in search of the map, he tears it into two, giving one to her for safekeeping.
She hides it in her old gramophone box, unaware that a dacoit is watching her. She gets kidnapped and her grandsons try to find her even as the king’s wicked cousin hires a magician to find the location of the map. But how the grandmother rescues and the treasure comes to the right place formed rest of the story.
This magical ride through a wondrous land won multiple awards at the Moscow Film Festival, 1981. Besides, Leela Misra won the Best Actress Award and the film received Best Comedy Diploma Award at Moscow Film festival held in India.
