‘I’ll give up politics if Cong. fails to come to power’

Picking up the gauntlet thrown by IT Minister K.T. Rama Rao, Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy said he would give up politics if Congress fails to come to power in Telangana.

Addressing an impressive public meeting as part of his ongoing Praja Chaitanya bus yatra here on Friday, Mr. Reddy said Congress granted separate Telangana only to benefit people and not the KCR family. “There is no social justice in the State. The SCs and STs continue to be discriminated against. People should end KCR’s rule for the good of the State,” he said.

The Congress party, if voted to power, would ensure ₹2,000 per quintal for paddy and ₹6,000 per quintal for cotton. “We will ensure that every produce by farmers gets a minimum of ₹2,000 per quintal. We will also waive farmers’ loans to the tune of ₹2 lakh in one go as loan waiver by the TRS government did not benefit the farmers much,” he said.

Further, he said his party would provide jobs to educated unemployed youth and if it could not do so, it would give unemployment allowance to all the eligible.

The TRS party was bluffing with people by making false promises. The report by Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) pointed a finger at TRS government misleading the people. “The allocations for welfare schemes and development programmes are less and the actual expenditure is much less than the allocations,” the TPCC president pointed out. Parkal constituency in-charge Enugala Venkatrami Reddy, MLA Donthu Madhava Reddy and others were present.

Later, the TPCC chief addressed a public meeting in Warangal presided over by DCC president Naini Rajender Reddy and other party leaders.
