Clive Palmer charged over Sunshine Coast golf resort

Clive Palmer has been hit with a criminal charge in relation to his golf resort on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast.

The Australian Securities and Investment Commission has launched criminal proceedings against the mining mogul and one of his business entities, accusing him of aiding, abetting, counselling or procuring the commission of an offence by another person.

The matter was heard in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on Friday morning, along with a charge against the company itself.

Palmer Leisure Coolum is accused of proposing or announcing a bid then failing to make an offer within two months.

Mr Palmer did not appear but his barrister, Chris Wilson, said he would make a submission there was no case to answer, at the next court date on June 13.

Mr Palmer was allowed to remain at large until that time.
