Man held for pushing wife from 11th floor

Victim was staying separately; her mother and a relative were watching TV in another room

The Korattur police on Thursday arrested a 37-year-old man who pushed his wife from the 11th floor of an apartment.

According to police, Raj Kannu, an MBA graduate, was working at a private company in Gummidipoondi. He married his niece Jayasudha 11 years ago. The couple has two sons.

Due to difference of opinion, Jayasudha was staying with her mother Suguna in a flat on the 11th floor of a 13 storey-apartment complex in Korattur. The flat belongs to Karthick, one of her relatives.

On Wednesday night, Raj Kannu came to the flat to convince his wife to return. They were talking in one of the rooms, while Ms. Suguna and Mr. Karthick were watching television in the hall.

Suddenly, Raj Kannu started screaming and said his wife jumped out of the window. He claimed that Jayasudha had committed suicide.

She was found lying in a pool of blood on the ground. The neighbours rushed her to a private hospital in Anna Nagar, where she was declared brought dead.

During interrogation, Raj Kannu admitted that he pushed her since he felt humiliated by her accusations, police said.
