All farmers’ organisations should unite: Yogendra Yadav

Swaraj India national president Yogendra Yadav on Thursday stressed the need for uniting all farmers’ organisations across the country to rescue the crisis-ridden agrarian sector. He was participating at ‘Nudi Namana’, a programme held to pay tribute to Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha leader and MLA for Melkote K.S. Puttannaiah, who passed away on February 28, here.

Puttannaiah had dreamt of weaving a network of farmers’ associations. He wanted over 190 associations to be brought under one umbrella. Sadly, his ambition has remained unfulfilled, and it is the time to unify farmers’ associations under one federation, he said.

A meeting of 190 farmers’ associations was also conducted. Unfortunately, he passed away before his dream came true, Mr. Yadav said.

He urged people to elect Puttannaiah’s son Darshan from Melkote and S.H. Linge Gowda from Maddur, both Swaraj India candidates.
