LONDON: Manchester City signed a sponsorship deal with Tinder, a popular app for meeting new people, the English Premier League club (EPL) has announced.

The deal, estimated by local media to be worth millions of pounds sterling, includes the men's team led by coach Pep Guardiola, Manchester City Women and New York City FC, which competes in Major League Soccer, reports Efe.

"Tinder is a huge global platform which, just like football, is bringing millions of people together every day all around the world," City Football Group's chief commercial officer Tom Glick said.

To celebrate the deal, Tinder, which last weekend changed its profile's famous red color on social media to City's blue until next Saturday's derby against United, launched a zeppelin into the Manchester sky bearing the logos of both the club and the application.

"Tinder's global presence and highly engaged user base gives us a unique understanding of what people all over the world are passionate about," Tinder vice president of partnerships David Wyler said.
