Riverside Schools is holding two community meetings April 16 to give the public an update on the construction process for the two new elementary buildings.
The first meeting will begin at 6 p.m. at Madison Avenue Elementary, 845 Madison Ave. in Painesville Township and the second meeting will start at 7:30 p.m. at LaMuth Middle School, 6700 Auburn Road in Concord Township.
Representatives from ICON Construction and Fanning Howey will be present to educate residents on what to expect during the construction process over the next year and a half, according to the news release.
Residents who live near the Madison Avenue Elementary are encouraged to attend that meeting at 6 p.m. and residents who live near the Concord-Hamden location are encouraged to attend the 7:30 p.m. meeting at LaMuth Middle School.
The passage of the 1.92-mill bond issue in November 2016 allows the district to construct two larger elementary schools while closing Hadden, Hale Road, Leroy and Madison Avenue elementary schools.
The sites for the new elementary schools will be the current Madison Avenue site in Painesville Township and the Concord-Hambden Road site in Concord Township.
The district is able to move forward with this facilities plan following a recent compromise with Concord Township in the dispute over the new proposed school at 12428 Concord Hambden Road.
The estimated timeline to open the schools to students is August 2019.
“The entire district will benefit from these high quality buildings to create a stronger sense of community, improve home values, attract new families and most importantly, develop and educate the youth of our community to prepare them for a successful future,” Riverside’s Board President Jennifer Harden previously said.
