It’s been another busy week for the UK’s regular headline-makers, from Rory McIlroy to Jurgen Klopp. In amongst the usual 24-hour intrigue, the latest developments at the Commonwealth Games – cruelly dubbed “school sports day” by sceptical locals – have slipped past almost unnoticed.
One can only hope that in Uganda – a country where professional athletes are almost unknown – the Gold Coast’s visibility level is higher. Because there is a true trailblazer leading the 70-strong Ugandan delegation, in the 6ft 4in shape of flagbearer Peace Proscovia.
