Cylinder blast: Four-year-old dies

A four-year-old girl who sustained burns in an LPG cylinder blast in her house at T. Dasarahalli on Thursday, passed away on Friday morning. Eight other people — all members of a family — were also injured in the incident.

Devike had sustained 76% burns, and was not able to pull through, said doctors at Victoria Hospital. At the moment, seven of the injured are being treated in the hospital.

Dr. Ramesh of the Burns Ward in Victoria Hospital said the rest of them are recovering and would have to spend at least three more days in the hospital.

Out of the nine injured, five were children. Police suspect that the cylinder was not turned off at night. When a member of the family woke up at night and switched on the light, it triggered the blast.
