CHANDIGARH:
Punjab Governor and
Chandigarh administrator VP Singh Badnore on Friday launched much-awaited
e-Sampark portal for depositing the monthly fee of the
street vendors of the city.
The portal was launched at Chandigarh secretariat in the presence of senior officers of Chandigarh administration, namely
Parimal Rai, adviser to the administrator, Anurag Agarwal, Home Secretary etc.
Till date vendors were depositing their monthly fee in the MC office, which was turning quite chaotic and tiring for both vendors and MC employees, but from now onwards, the payments will be received in E- Sampark centres. Since there are over 40 E-Sampark centres in the city, spreading in both sectors and villages, it will be easy for the vendors to deposit their amounts there without any delay.
As per the records, Chandigarh had around 9,000 registered street vendors and the MC has been receiving a monthly fee of Rs 40 to 50 lakh. Sources in the MC revealed that most of the vendors are not depositing the fee and they are now being identified.
