ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that the team is signing former Philadelphia Eagle-Buffalo Bill Jordan Matthews.

On the very day that Brandin Cooks was introduced to the Los Angeles media, the Patriots were reportedly signing a wide receiver who could help fill his void.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Thursday night that the Patriots were signing Jordan Matthews, a second-round pick in the 2014 NFL Draft that produced the just-traded Cooks in the first round. The deal is reportedly for one year.

In 56 games over four seasons with Philadelphia (2014-2016) and Buffalo (2017), the 6-foot-3, 212-pound Matthews has caught 250 passes for 2,955 yards and 20 touchdowns, including 85 passes for 997 yards and eight TDs with the Eagles in 2015.

Acquired from the Eagles along with a third-round pick in this year's draft in exchange for cornerback Ronald Darby, Matthews is coming off an injury-plagued season with the Bills, one in which he underwent surgeries on his thumb, knee and ankle.

In 10 games last year, Matthews caught 25 passes for 282 yards and one touchdown.
