BJD sweeps polls in two civic bodies

Odisha’s ruling Biju Janata Dal swept the elections in two Notified Area Councils, the results of which were announced on Thursday. Polling in the two civic bodies were held on Tuesday.

In Attabira NAC in Bargarh district, the BJD nominees won in all 12 wards, while in Hindol NAC in Dhenkanal district the ruling party won 13 of the 16 wards. One BJP nominee and two Independent candidates won the other three wards in Hindol.

The BJD’s victory was celebrated at the party headquarters in Bhubaneswar in the afternoon. A victory procession was taken out to the residence of Chief Minister and BJD president Naveen Patnaik.

Mr. Patnaik took to Twitter to thank the people. “This will encourage us to serve the people in a dedicated manner,” he tweeted.
