There’s a chance for that number going to five when Sathish Kumar Sivalingam steps up to the mat in 77kg weightlifting. However, the focus will be firmly on the hockey field where India take on Pakistan in their first match of CWG 2018. However, given recent results between the two, India are firm favourites. To put Sivalingam's gold in perspective, he was the first from India's weightlifting contingent to highlight how the team has been missing a physio and massuer to help the lifters recover in beetween their lifts. Today, he lifted a total of 317 kg to pip Englan'd Jack Oliver.
Sivalingam became India's fifth weightlifter to win a medal at the CWG 18. He struck gold in the men's 77 kg weightlifting after a close fight with England's Jack Oliver.

Sathish Kumar Mahalingam is on the cusp of a gold medal now. Lifted 169kg in the first Clean and Jerk and now goes for 173kg in the second attempt. Successfully does it! Surely no one can match him now!

Yogeshwar Singh scores 12.25 in Pommel Horse in the final Rotation. His total now stands at 75.600. He's now definitely out of medal contention.
India beat Malaysia in the doubles event to move into the semifinals. Complete a 3-0 win with Mouma Das/Madhurika Patkar getting the clincher 11-8, 10-12, 11-8, 11-7 against Ai Xin Tee and Ying Ho. Will face England or Canada in the semifinals. The other semi features Singapore vs Australia
Winning start for India in Lawn Bowls on Day 3. After Pinki's invidual win, India beat South Africa in Men's Triples. An extremely narrow 18-17 win.
Yogeshwar Singh posts 11.400 in floor exercise. Takes his tally to 63.350 after four apparatus in the All Round Final. Earlier, he had posted 12.600 in rings, 14.100 in vault, 13.000 in parallel bars and 12.250 in horizontal bars.
In Men's 200m Butterfly, Sajan Prakash posts 1:58.87 in Heat 2 to finish fifth. But with eight swimmers overall to compete in the final, he finishes ninth. Misses out narrowly. Kept as a reserve for the time being.
Worth noting that, Sajan's timing of 1:58.87 is a national record! He has bettered is own national record of 1:59.10.

Sathish Kumar Sivalingam lifts 144kg in his third attempt to keep things interesting right at the top. But Jack Oliver of England comes back to post 145kg in the second attempt. Oliver going for a personal best of 148kg. Almost got it but fails to pull it off. Either way, he goes in the lead after the Snatch attempts. India's Sathish is second.
India women's table tennis team leads Malaysia 2-0. Manika Batra beat Ying Ho 11-9, 11-7, 11-7 followed by Madhurika Patkar downing Karen Lyne 7-11, 11-9, 11-9, 11-3.
Sathish Kumar Sivaligam goes two-for-two by lifting 140kg. He had successfully lift 149kg in Glasgow for a CWG record. Jack Oliver of England enters the fray and successfully lifts 141kg to keep things tight.
Sathish Kumar Sivalingam finally comes out. Successfully lifts 136kg in the first attempt. Worth pointing out that he had done 150kg in training.
Bit of a confusion meanwhile over the third attempt by Australia's Francois Etoundi. After 128kg and 133kg, he matches Sivaligam's 136kg.

Sathish Kumar Sivalingam had first planned to lift 130kg in the Snatch but has now upped it to 136kg. Best stands at 130kg at the moment by Malaysia's Mubin Rahim. Yet to come out and attempt his lift though.

India bagged two more medals - gold and bronze - with Sanjita Chanu and Deepak Lather standing on the podium for India. Chanu in the process won her second consecutive CWG medal. Lather, meanwhile, became the youngest to win a weightlifting medal for India. In badminton, India blanked Scotland for a third straight 5-0 win. The women's hockey team thrashed Malaysia 4-1 for first win at CWG after the surprise loss against Wales.
