Police intensify probe into alleged suicide case

The police have intensified their investigation into the alleged suicide of a Plus Two student at Canal Pirivu, near Walayar here, late Wednesday with the post-mortem report indicating that she was sexually abused before her death.

According to police sources, two persons from the locality, who had close contacts with the family of the girl, have been taken into custody. Arrests would be recorded later based on the outcome of the interrogation.

The girl left no suicide note before ending her life by hanging from the ceiling at her home.

When the police reached the spot, the local community said the death was under mysterious circumstances and demanded a detailed investigation.
