Mauritian Games delegation member charged with sexual assault
A member of the Mauritian Commonwealth Games delegation has been charged with sexual assault.
The 52-year-old allegedly assaulted a 26-year-old woman in Southport on March 29 and was charged after police announced they had launched an investigation on Wednesday.
The man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, stepped down from his position after detectives opened an investigation.
Queensland police confirmed they were investigating the matter after Mauritian newspaper le Mauricien reported an allegation of “indecent acts” against a female athlete on Saturday night.
The man was due to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court on April 17.
