DeKALB – A number of financial education classes and seminars will be available for DeKalb County residents this month as part of Money Smart Week, a nationwide effort to help citizens control their personal finances.

The week of offerings from April 21 to April 28 will begin with a kick-off event at 8:30 a.m. April 20 at the DeKalb County Community Foundation, 475 DeKalb Ave., Sycamore. The free, public event will be an opportunity for attendees to receive materials on the various sessions going on during Money Smart Week.

Dawn Littlefield, executive director of the Kishwaukee United Way, said Money Smart Week is a wonderful opportunity to work with community presenters willing to share their expertise on personal finance.

“We hope individuals and families look at our local calendar of educational offerings and choose several sessions to attend to learn how to enhance their financial knowledge and learn a few financial wellness facts,” Littlefield said in a news release.
