Three sustain burns in fire accident

Three persons sustained burn injuries following a fire breakout at a candle manufacturing unit operating out of a house at North Paravur in the early hours of Friday.

Antony, 56, the house owner, sustained over 50% burns, while his wife Shaiby, 50, and son Aby, 31, suffered minor burns on their legs. Candles, which were stored in the house, caught fire, and the family members sustained burns while making efforts to douse the flames.

Antony slipped in the process and molten wax fell on him leading to injuries on his chest, hands, and face, fire force officials said. It took over four hours for fire force units from North Paravur, Kodungalloor, Mala, and Vypeen to bring the fire under control.
