RGC forward Tim Grey believes a performance of similar standard to the one which dismantled Cardiff on Easter Monday will be needed for tomorrow's visit to Pontypridd (2.30pm).

After losing at Llanelli a fortnight ago, the Gogs have bounced back with huge wins over Cross Keys (55-28) and three days later at the Arms Park, where in front of the S4C cameras Mark Jones' side positively dazzled in a 64-21 victory.

That result lifted RGC up third in the Principality Premiership ahead of tomorrow afternoon's test at Sardis Road.

The Gogs will have fond memories of last season's three meetings with Ponty as they won them all. The North Walians triumphed 47-17 at home and 37-18 away in the league and, more famously, defeated the South Wales club 15-11 in the WRU National Cup Final.

Both sides will be full of confidence entering tomorrow's tussle after high scoring wins last time out, RGC racking up over 60 points in the capital and Ponty beating Swansea 54-19 at St Helen's.

The victory against Cardiff gained RGC some good praise after the game was shown live on S4C, and Grey knows he and his team-mates have to push on again in terms of the performance.

He said: “It has been a busy week when you take into account playing Easter Friday, travelling Sunday and playing Cardiff Monday and coming back up north.

"We have had a couple of recovery days and then back in for training and we are ready to hit the road again. As a player you just want to play rugby, so the games coming thick and fast is what it is all about at this time of the season.

"We knew what we needed to do against Cardiff in regards to our performance and attitude, especially after the Llanelli game and there is no easy game in the Principality Premiership.

"Going to Sardis Road will be one of the toughest tests on the road but the important thing is to focus on ourselves and make sure we turn up from kick off."

Man of the Match Evan Yardley picked up a brace of tries at Cardiff on Monday.

“We were disappointed in ourselves after the Llanelli performance so it was vital we got back to winning ways, and we did that over the Easter weekend," said Yardley.

"The fitness is a key factor in our game, and those small percentages make a difference. The support running makes a difference and our play is built on team-work, as when you look at Mei Parry making a break and giving the pass it shows we are selfless and don’t look for the individual's try.

“To come to the CAP and put in such a high score is obviously pleasing, but we have another tough away game on Saturday at Sardis Road. We will look at the recovery over the next few days as part of the preparation, but we are in a good position to build on the past results."
