European spot power for Monday gains on forecast drop in wind output New Delhi: European spot electricity prices for early next week delivery rose in the wholesale market on Friday on the back of forecasts for a sharp drop in power production from wind turbines.

* The German baseload contract for Monday delivery added nearly 4 euros to 40.25 euros ($49.22) a megawatt-hour (MWh) compared with the price paid on Thursday for Friday delivery.

* The equivalent French contract gained 4.5 euros to 41.50 euros/MWh compared with the Friday delivery price paid on Thursday.

* Electricity production from German wind turbines is expected at around 5 gigawatts (GW) on Monday, compared with 10 GW on Friday, one forecast showed.

* In France, wind power generation is expected to fall by 2.7 GW to 1.6 GW, according to Thomson Reuters data. ($1 = 0.8178 euros).
