Watch: Handcuffed Conor McGregor Heads to Court Following Assault Charges
MMA star Conor McGregor was led out of New York's 78th Precinct in Brooklyn Friday morning after spending the night behind bars for allegedly attacking a bus of rival UFC fighters at the Barclays Center.
Decked out in jeans and a buttoned-up polo shirt, the handcuffed mixed martial arts fighter was seen exiting the police precinct in the custody of several non-uniformed officers. McGregor, 29, turned himself into police Thursday night, after he and his entourage allegedly assaulted a bus and at least two other UFC fighters.
Lightweight Michael Chiesa and flyweight fighter Ray Borg allegedly suffered minor injuries from broken glass flying into the bus. The UFC issued a statement Friday saying Borg would not face off against Brandon Moreno due to "multiple cornea abrasions."
McGregor can be seen in video footage from Thursday evening launching a large metal dolly at the bus as it attempts to exit the Barclays Center following the UFC 223 media-day event. The UFC's only simultaneous two-division champion was scheduled to lose his lightweight title belt to the winner of rival Khabib Nurmagomedov and featherweight champion Max Holloway's main-event match. Nurmagomedov responded to the incident by telling MMA Fighting, "I am laughing inside."
UFC President Dana White confirmed to ESPN Friday morning that Holloway was declared "medically unfit to fight" and the bout has been postponed.
“With much regret, and after careful review, a joint decision was made between the state athletic commission and the UFC,” Kim Sumbler, executive director of the NYSAC, told reporters attending the official weigh-ins. “We’ve deemed Mr. Holloway medically unfit to attend the scales [to weigh in].”

McGregor did not respond to shouting news media members and fans outside the 78th Precinct near the Barclays Center as he entered a vehicle in police custody. He is set to appear in court "sometime later" Friday, according to a NYPD spokesman's statement to reporters.
“He’s been charged with assault, three counts of assault and one count of criminal mischief,” NYPD spokesperson Thomas Antonetti told WNBC-TV. “He’s still in custody, still at the police precinct until he’s removed to court this morning.” He added that fellow MMA fighter Cian Cowley, 25, was also charged with assault for his role in the bus brawl.
