Cody Toolis is also wanted in New Bedford and Dartmouth
TIVERTON – Cody Toolis has been on a tear, police allege.
He is now wanted in two states as a suspect in three crimes.
All of that is the result of the help detectives received from the friends on Facebook, Police Chief Patrick Jones said.
“We got a call Monday at 9:21 a.m. of a robbery at the Bank Newport, 614 Main Road,” Jones said.
Detectives Joshua Pelletier and Dan Martin began the investigation, immediately reviewing security video to see if it would help.
“The video was very good,” Jones said. “There was no attempt by the suspect to disguise himself.
“We posted the photo on our Facebook page. Within minutes, we got links to a strong arm robbery that took place days before in Dartmouth.”
In that case, a woman was pushed to the ground and her purse was stolen, police report.
Police compared notes and determined that they were searching for the same person. New Bedford Police called and said they were looking for the man for the theft of a Dodge Durango in that city.
As that was happening, people called in tips to the Tiverton Police, offering a name, Jones said.
With that, Tiverton detectives got a warrant for Toolis, 27, who had a last known address in Sunset Hill in Fall River.
Anyone with information about Toolis is asked to call Tiverton Police at 401-625-6717.
“Within a matter of days, Mr. Toolis was involved in two robberies and a vehicle theft,” Jones said. “We are concerned because he appears desperate.
“We would appreciate a call from anyone who can help us find him.”
