VIJAYAWADA: Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan on Thursday assured the victims of aqua food park in Tundurru of West Godavari district to stand by them and champion their cause.Victims of Aqua Food Park in Tundurru met Pawan Kalyan in Vijayawada on Thursday and explained to him how 1.5 lakh people in Tundurru and nearby hamlets have been suffering due to the water pollution caused by the aqua food park.
A Vasu, M Trimurthulu, V Bujji and K Veera Swamy, representing the anti-Godavari Mega Aqua Food Park committee explained that the State government is supporting the management of the food park rather than taking note of the problems being faced by the people in the region.

They said Gonteru Canal has become a sewage canal and for protesting against the pollution, false cases were foisted against men and women. Due to filing of cases, several Dalits have lost their jobs and now they are in dire straits.

Jana Sena chief was also informed that in the name of the new power line to the Mega Aqua Food Park, several farmlands are being destroyed. Further, there are no safety norms being implemented in the factory, which saw the death of five workers, they explained.

Earlier, Pawan Kalyan also held a meeting with a group of doctors and discussed the recent diarrhoea outbreak in Guntur city, which saw the loss of more than 12 lives. The doctors were suggested to create more awareness among people about hygiene and good health habits.
