Labour MPs urge Jeremy Corbyn to 'clean up' governing body who defended sharing platforms with anti-Semitic activists

Labour MPs have urged Jeremy Corbyn to “clean up” his party’s National Executive Committee as it emerged a number of its members have defended or shared platforms with activists suspended for anti-Semitism.

At least three representatives of Labour’s governing body have been criticised by Jewish groups, including one who shared a platform with an activist who claimed “Zionists” were behind the 9/11 terror attack.

It comes after Christine Shawcroft, a close ally of Mr Corbyn, stepped down from the NEC following anger at her decision to oppose the suspension of a council candidate accused of Holocaust denial.
