The Circle baseball team is off to a phenomenal start this season. After just six games, the Thunderbirds have already won more games than they did all of last season. Circle finished 5-14 last year and is currently sitting at 6-0 after two wins over Augusta on Thursday night by scores of 5-3 and 4-2.

After two scoreless innings in game one, Augusta was able to get on the board first in the bottom of the third inning. The Orioles took the lead when Chance Whitehead lead off the inning with a single and advanced to third on two wild pitches. Whitehead scored from third on a Circle error. In the next at-bat Trace Blakesley hit a sacrifice fly to score Clay Wesbrooks and give Augusta a 2-0 lead. Circle responded quickly with three runs In the top of the next inning to take a 3-2 lead. Lane Coulter was the first T-Bird to reach home. Later in the inning, Gavin Carson drove in two runs with a base hit. Both teams scored a run in the fifth inning. In the top of the seventh inning, Brandon Terrones hit a sacrifice fly to score Lane Coulter from third. Augusta went three-up, three-down in the bottom of the final inning as Circle took game one 5-3.

In game two, Circle led from the top of the first inning until the end of the game.

Colton Barnett of Augusta was the only player in the game with multiple hits, as Barnett finished with two. Easton Unruh finished with five strikeouts for the Thunderbirds. Circle out-hit Augusta 6-4 in game two. Augusta finished with three errors in the loss.

Circle will host Clearwater on Monday, April 9. Augusta will also be home on Monday as the Orioles will take on the Wellington Crusaders.
