DeKALB – It has been five months since the last community meeting was held regarding the Annie Glidden North Revitalization Plan.
Since then, the city has made some turnkey improvements to the mostly low-income area, such as tree trimming to improve lighting. The roughly 30-person task force committed to the plan also split up into four subcommittees to address four specific issues: community services, housing and commercial development, safety and security and transportation, and infrastructure.
Now, the city is asking the public to review the materials from these subcommittees and provide feedback during the third of four community meetings on April 16.
The open house-style meeting will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 830 N. Annie Glidden Road.
The third and fourth community meetings are designed to draft a revitalization plan for the neighborhood, which will be presented to the DeKalb City Council at the conclusion of the study.
Camiros, a Chicago-based planning firm that was approved in August to carry out the four-phase revitalization plan at a cost no greater than $83,550, will present draft plan concepts to make the neighborhood a more desireable and safe place to live. The firm will also go over the results of the task force subcommittee meetings.
