Almost 20 years after Salman Khan was accused of hunting and poaching two blackbucks in Jodhpur, the 52-year-old actor was sentenced to five years in jail on Thursday.

It was during the shooting of Hum Saath Saath Hain in 1998 when Salman, along with his co-actors Saif Ali Khan, Tabu, Sonali Bendre and Neelam, went hunting in the Kankani village in Jodhpur, and ended up killing two blackbucks.

Two decades later, on April 6, Salman along with Saif, Tabu, Sonali and Neelam were produced at a special court in Jodhpur, where they awaited the verdict in the 19-year case.

The court acquitted Salman's Hum Saath Saath Hain co-actors because of lack of evidence. Salman was pronounced guilty, he was sentenced to five years in jail and slapped a fine of Rs 10,000.

Soon after the court delivered its verdict, Salman's Hum Saath Saath Hain co-stars Neelam, Tabu, Saif and Sonali left for Mumbai, while the Dabangg star stayed back in Jodhpur.

According to a report in Hindustan Times, after the pronouncement of the judgement, Salman's co-actors rallied around him for some time, voicing words of assurance.

Before making his exit from the courtroom, Saif shook hands with Salman and said, "Good luck."

Salman spent Thursday night in Jodhpur Central Jail. With his bail decision postponed till tomorrow, Salman will have to spend another night in prison.
