Khanna police on Friday arrested a gangster wanted in murder and other serious crimes from
Rara Sahib area. The accused was identified as
Mandeep Singh alias
Dickey Gill, of Gill village, who is around twenty eight year old.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Khanna, Navjot Singh Mahal said that on secret information from an informer,
Khanna police set up a check-post at a T point in Rara Sahib on Friday. He added that at around 10.30 am, police party saw a white-colour car bearing number CH01AK-9711 coming from Moani village.
Police officer said that the car was stopped and checked after which the driver identified himself as Mandeep Singh alias Dickey of Gill village. He added that during the search 240 capsules of intoxicants, a 32 bore pistol and two live cartridges were recovered from Dickey.
Police said that later on checking the details of the vehicle, it was found that the original number of the car was PB10FB-9485 and it came to light that the accused had used fake number plate on the vehicle. The accused was booked under section 379 (theft), 411 (dishonestly receiving stolen property), 473 (making or possessing counterfeit seal, etc, with intent to commit forgery punishable otherwise) of IPC and sections of NDPS and Arms act.
Police officials said that on thorough investigation it came to fore that the accused is a notorious gangster who has around twelve cases against him in two to three districts. They added that Dickey Gill’s friends include Manish Kumar, Prince Commando, Taranpreet Singh alias Titli and Mandeep Kumar of Khanna who are in jail.
A police officer said that in 2008 Dickey, along with Laddi and Vikram of Moga had murdered a person in Kurli and in 2015 Sadar police had arrested the accused in one case whereas in August 2017, Dickey, along with Munish Kumar had attacked the attendant of a de-addiction center in Alamgir area.
The SSP said that in September 2017, the accused had attacked a liquor vend and stolen cash from there. He added that in 2017 the accused had stolen a Micra car from Ajnod area and on 18 March, 2018, the accused had stolen a 32 bore pistol and cartridges from an Activa scooter in Dugri area.
Police officials said that in February 2018, Dickey, along with Prince Commando had shot at the brother of a friend of notorious gangster Goru Bacha. They added that the accused has 12 serious cases against him including a murder case and three attempt-to-murder cases.
