2018 Commonwealth Games live day two: Australians heat up the pool

Another Games record for Australia!

Australia have just broken the Commonwealth Games record in the 4 x100m Freestyle Relay with a time of 3:12.45.

Set in the second of the event's two heats just after midday, the time eclipses the previous record of 3:13.44, also by an Australian team, seen in Glasgow four years ago.

Welcome!

Here we are on day two of the 2018 Commonwealth Games. There's been a bit of action this morning - particularly in the pool where there are early signs of podiums to come from the Australian contingent.

Kyle Chalmers looked strong as he pulled his way through the field to finish first - after reacting slowest - in his 200m Freestyle heat. Mack Horton managed second place behind England's James Guy in his qualifier.

Elsewhere, Shayna Jack finished first in her 50m Freestyle heat, with sisters Bronte and Cate Campbell managing the same in their respective heats.

Australia currently sit second on the medal count behind England, but I wouldn't bet against the home nation climbing to the top of the ladder by the end of the day.
