PTC secures trading of entire power from 1,000 Mw Karcham Wangtoo hydro project

The company had earlier secured sale of 680 Mw of the saleable 880 Mw capacity of the power plant to state utilities in Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan under long-term PPAs.
PTC secures trading of entire power from 1,000 Mw Karcham Wangtoo hydro project New Delhi: PTC India Ltd, India’s largest power trader, today announced it has completed the sale of 200 Megawatt (Mw) power under the long-term Power Purchase Agreement of Karcham Wangtoo hydro project to Punjab state utility.

The company had earlier sold 680 Mw of the saleable 880 Mw capacity of the power plant to state utilities in Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan under long-term PPAs. With the sale of the remaining 200 Mw capacity now, the entire saleable power of the project is tied up for supply to utilities on long-term basis.

The Run-of-the-River (RoR) project is located on Satluj river in Kinnaur district, Himachal Pradesh. It is owned and operated by Himachal Baspa Power Company, an arm of the JSW Group. PTC India is the trading partner of the project.
