MoD warns soldiers of 'clear risk' from tracking workouts on Strava fitness app

Soldiers have been warned of the "clear risk"  fitness trackers and location sharing apps present to military security after the fitness app Strava leaked the locations of secret military bases.

Strava, an app that lets users record and compare runs and cycles, released a "heat map" of user data, showing routes where users had run while using the app around the world.

But the release of data exposed the movements of users that had been thought private, including the heat maps of secret US military bases in Afghanistan and Iraq.
