Today's brainteaser

It's time for today's brainteaser.

Artist Stephen Kiprillis is a fan of video games, and he's given this one a nice 8-bit look. If you've cracked it, send me an email (craig.butt@theage.com.au), a Facebook post or a tweet (@CraigDButt).

I'll post a hint at 8am and the answer at 9am. First with the answer gets the bragging rights.

Man robbed outside Glenroy TAB

A 68-year-man whose winnings were snatched from his hands outside a Glenroy TAB was knocked down by the thief's car when he chased after her.

The man had been holding his winnings outside the Pascoe Vale Road venue just before 6pm on March 10 when a woman in her 20s approached him asking for money.

He declined to hand over any of his gains, so the woman snatched his money and fled to a car in nearby Morgan Court.

He gave chase, and confronted her at the car, where a man and a antoher woman were waiting for the woman.

The driver reversed the car in the scuffle, and knocked the victim over. The 68-year-old man was sustained bruises, cuts and broken ribs from the impact.

The car, which was displaying stolen number plates, sped off and has since been recovered.

Police have released an image of the woman, who is is believed to be in her 20s.

The woman police believe could assist with their inquiries.

The target word

The letters for today's target word are:

C A R I G N B H N

I haven't been able to work out this one yet. Normally when I see an I, an N and a G in a word I assume it's an -ing word, but as far as I know Carbhning isn't a thing.

Let me know if you've solved it. First in with the answer gets the bragging rights. I always check who sends the answer first, so you can respect my authoritah when it comes to these little quizzes.

Incidentally, AUTHORITY was the answer to yesterday's word.

Today's weather

It will be 22 degrees and sunny today, with the chance of rain being virtually zero.

The weather for Friday and Saturday will be pretty much the same as today's give or take a degree or so.

It's definitely edging into autumn now, and while we have sweated through the last 30 degree day for some time, the weather bureau expects a top of 29 degrees on Sunday.

If this weather forecast seems familiar, it's because it is the same as yesterday's, except for three things that I have changed in italics.

It's definitely getting to that time of year when the weather becomes rather uniform, which makes it much harder for us Melbourne Express bloggers to come up with an original way of presenting the forecast each day!

Car crashes at Dandenong Primary School

A car with three men in their 20s inside has crashed on the grounds of Dandenong Primary School.

Police said the car spun out of control on Foster Street in Dandenong about 1.50am this morning, smashed through the front fence of the primary school and rolled several times.

3AW's Pat Mitchell is at the scene and said the vehicle came to rest against a school building.

Two men were arrested at the scene, while a third man was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

We'll see what else we can find out.

Good morning

Good morning and welcome to the Melbourne Express blog.

I'll be keeping track of news, trains and traffic until 9am.

If you've got something to share, please send me an email (craig.butt@theage.com.au) , a tweet (@CraigDButt) or a Facebook message (depending on your choice of social media platform).

I have a new brainteaser ready to go today, and if I don't say so myself, today's Throwback Thursday is a cracker.
