Took cut of ₹4 lakh for allotment of flat

The CBI on Wednesday booked Delhi Development Authority (DDA) Principal Commissioner (Housing) J. P. Aggarwal and three others for allegedly receiving ₹4 lakh in bribe for allotment of a flat. All the accused persons have been arrested.

“The case has been registered under Section 120-B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code and relevant provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act. Those named in the FIR are Mr. Aggarwal, Sunil Gupta, Anil Gupta and J.P. Sharma,” said a CBI official.

The CBI said that Mr. Aggarwal and the Guptas were apprehended when the alleged bribe amount was exchanging hands.

The money was being taken for extending undue favour by Mr. Aggarwal in the matter of alleged allotment of flat, said the agency.

“Mr. Sharma was apprehended subsequently. Searches are being conducted on the residential and official premises of the accused,” the official said, adding that all the accused were arrested by Wednesday evening.
