Uttar Pradesh Congress accused chief minister of adopting double standard on taking action against the criminals and alleged that Yogi Adityanath had humiliated a businessman just to save MLA, Amanmani Tripathi, an accused in his wife Sara murder case. Amanmani is also son of criminal turned politician, Amarmani Tripathi, now going under imprisonment for killing poetess Madhumita Shukla.

``On one hand, Yogi openly gave free hand to policemen to eliminate even petty criminals in alleged `encounters’ and on other, a trader who claimed to have lost his land into the hands of MLA Amanmani Tripathi, was humiliated by none other then Yogi himself just when he contacted him (Chief Minister) to seek justice”, pointed Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee (UPCC) senior spokesman, Virendra Madan. Attacking Yogi here on Wednesday afternoon, Madan charging chief minister of adopting double standard said that Yogi claimed to have directed the UP police to take stern action against the land mafias, but when a trader contacted him to expose MLA Amanmani  Tripathi, Yogi used abusive language against him.

``A Lucknow based trader Ayush Singhal contacted Yogi several times both in Gorakhpur and in Lucknow just to hand over his application regarding grabbing of his huge land by MLA, Amanmani Tripathu, in the outskirts of the state capital but every time, Yogi had thrown his application threatening and abusing the complainant with dire consequences if he will again try to raise the issue”, Madan claimed while adding that it further showed double speak of Yogi on taking action against the land mafia or criminals. He questioned that why Yogi is trying to save Amanmani instead of getting the facts probed and take appropriate action?

Congress spokesman said that earlier also Yogi shared dais with Amanmani Tripathi, a murder accused. He further attacked Yogi claiming that it seems that chief minister is patronizing Amanmani just to have one extra vote in crucial Rajya Sabha or now proposed election for 13 seats in the Legislative Council. ``How could Yogi listen to any complaint against Amanmani when the latter supported BJP’s candidate in Rajya Sabha and helped the Party to win one extra seat through cross voting”, asserted Madan while claiming that it exposed  the real face of the chief minister.

It may be mentioned that one Ayush Singhal, a Lucknow based businessman claimed before media that he met Yogi Adityanath both in Gorakhpur and here at Lucknow just to seek his help of conducting  a probe so they he could get justice. Singhal said that Amanmani Tripathi has grabbed his 22.5 bigha land in Papnamau locality under the Chinhat police station and so far he reported the matter several times to the district administration but no one ensured justice. He claimed to have also contacted Yogi in this regard but the chief minister torn his application and also hurled abuses on him asking him to leave the place.
