Preference for those who played a role in Statehood movement

The Telangana Jana Samiti (TJS) founder M. Kodandaram on Wednesday unveiled the party flag which largely had a light blue shade in the background with a green border and the map of Telangana in dark blue in the middle. A flower shaped image within the map symbolised the sacrifices of martyrs in the Statehood movement.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Kodandaram targeted Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao for heading a dictatorial government. The government ordered arrest of people who waged struggles for justice. In these circumstances, a party was needed for the spread of a political ideology committed to people’s rights.

He said the party will demonstrate its strength at its foundation day public meeting in the city on April 29. He recalled the modest beginnings of Bahujan Samaj Party and Aam Aadmi Party founders Kanshiram and Arvind Kejriwal respectively who made their mark in politics. Ultimately, their parties wrested power. In the same way, he said the TJS will win elections as its members played a leading role in the movement for separate State.

Mr. Kodandaram also said the TJS was formed with the spirit of sacrifices by martyrs of Telangana. Therefore, the party will prefer those in the forefront of the movement over others.
