Mercury registers considerable rise in Delhi

Mercury registered a considerable rise in the national capital this morning with the minimum settling at 23.2 degrees Celsius, five notches above the normal.

The relative humidity was registered at 67 per cent, further adding to the discomfort of people.

"The minimum recorded was 23.2 degrees Celsius, while the maximum is likely to be 39 degrees Celsius," a said today.

While Safdarjung Observatory's reading is considered the official one for the city, minimum temperatures recorded at other stations were -- Palam (24 degrees Celsius), Ridge (23.3), Ayanagar (23.2) and Lodhi Road (22.7).

The weatherman forecast partly cloudy skies.

The mercury had maintained an upward trend in the city yesterday with the maximum recorded at 39 degrees Celsius, five notches above the season's average.

The minimum had settled at 23 degrees Celsius, four notches above the normal.
