A dance drama ‘Manikarnika’ narrating the brave heart tales of Rani Laxmi Bai will be staged at Shaheed Bhavan on Thursday. Interestingly, the artists from years 4 to 14 years will be performing in the dance drama for which the final rehersals were carried out on Wednesday.
The event is being organized by Nav Nritya Natya Sanstha, Bhopal. Conceptualised by Tarun Dutt Pandey, the dance drama is choreographed and directed by Sneha Ashutosh Singh Bhadauria.
Informing about the dance drama, Tarun Dutt Pandey said that a month long workshop was organized for the young children wherein they prepared the drama Manikarnika. The dance drama is solely based on Kathak form which will be presented with all the newness, he added.
Who doesn’t know about the bravery tales of Jhansi Ki Rani, Maharani Laxmi Bai. It was 1847 when among the various male freedom fighters Rani Laxmi Bai picked-up the sword against British Rule. The tales of her brave heart and her confidence are narrated even now.
The dance drama focuses on how, after losing Gangadhar Rao, Laxmi Bai took up the responsibility of her kingdom Jhansi and became the Queen of the kingdom.
The kathak dance based dance drama will showcase how the queen struggled for the victory and freedom of her country. When she fearlessly fought against the British till her death, all the major incidents are rehearsed in the dance drama. Besides, music and light design also play a very vital role in kathak based drama, he added.
