ConsenSys to launch blockchain training course in Vizag in June

ConsenSys India, the Indian cohort of the global blockchain specialist firm ConsenSys, in collaboration with the State Government, will launch a unique end-to-end training programme in Visakhapatnam in June.

Founding Managing Partner of ConsenSys Kavita Gupta told The Hindu over phone that as part of the ConsenSys India Developer Programme, its first edition of Indian educational initiative, some leading developers working on Ethereum, an open-source blockchain-based distributed computing platform, would teach this course, enabling the participants to become proficient solidity coders.

The programme, she said, would be organised in the course of five weekends, beginning June 9 with an introduction to blockchain technology and deep dive into the Ethereum.

Two-day hackathon

On the sixth weekend, a two-day hackathon would be organised and the participants would be divided into teams and work on projects based on their learning.

"The hackathon will be followed by a graduation ceremony for the presentation of ConsenSys India Developer Certification on the blockchain technology. The participants will also get an opportunity to join the ConsenSys India team," said Kavita Gupta.

Giving details about the procedure to select the participants, Gupta said that the applications would be accepted from April 16 and experts from the fields of data science, computer science, engineering, software programming, PhDs, students, and hackers were eligible to enrol themselves.

Selection procedure

The selection process involves a coding test, consideration of applicants' background and experience mentioned in their resumes and software development platform GitHub.

Ms. Gupta said that the initiative was a part of a broader partnership between the ConsenSys India and the AP Government for which a MoU was signed earlier with an aim of transforming the State into a hub for blockchain-based innovations.

Lauding the initiative by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and IT Minister N. Lokesh to take the lead in adopting blockchain in a big way, she said they were very keen on kick-starting their first developer programme in India.

“At ConsenSys, we are positioned to innovate on education content in distributed technology as we have the biggest developer base in the Ethereum blockchain space. It is a proud moment for me to help launch the ConsenSys India Developer Programme which will nurture high-quality blockchain talent,” she said.

The ConsenSys India Developer Programme will be led by Daniel Novy, among the first developers of the Ethereum blockchain platform. Students will be guided by Mr. Novy to understand the intricacies of developing and creating smart decentralised applications.
